First Lines:
Mayhem:
‘Angus!’
I put my book down on my bed and grab a
pillow to place over my ears. If I ignore him he might go away.
‘Angus!’
For a man so in control of his emotions that people describe
him as cold he is making a lot of noise – although not within earshot. He
lacks any sense of humour and previous monarchs, including my grandfather, have
decapitated people for less. Even I am not prepared to risk challenging
him outright.
Soaring:
Some days Queen Beatrice regretted marrying a man in high school and today was one of them. Rolling up the sleeve of her regalia, she grabbed her razor-fan and stepped out of the glass doors of her office.
Blood, mayhem and magic forge a reluctant prince into a beloved king.
A night of royal disasters thrust the unprepared, pampered Prince Angus onto the throne. As the youngest of three children he never expected to inherit. The modern teen has no respect for royal tradition and would rather hang out with his mates or start a brawl. He’s never left the Royal Quarter, never shown any interest in affairs of state, the press and public hate him, and his sister wants him dead.
His much older sister, Princess Evelyn, has only ever wanted one thing: to be queen. She will stop at nothing to get the crown on her head and that includes matricide, patricide and attempted fratricide. Unlike Angus she has the people’s hearts and the media adore her. With a mix of sex and blackmail she has assured support from the country’s military leaders. She has hated Angus since he was in the womb and now he has blundered onto her coveted throne. Outgunned, outmaneuvered and out of his depth, Angus joins forces with the senile, bright-pink mobile phone wielding, Abbot who shows him how to employ ancient magic and together they battle to turn the tide on Evelyn.
